Google Pixel has problems with battery and overheating: what’s going on?

These weeks are proving to be full of novelty at Google, beautiful and ugly. After the distribution of Android 14 Beta 2 and the launch of Google Pixel 7a, the Mountain View company is releasing the usual monthly updates for its mobile devices, anticipating what will also be up to the portfolio Android from other smartphone manufacturers. Unfortunately, however, the latest update seems to have caused problems overheating and rapid depletion of drumscompromising the user experience.

Reports between Reddit and the official Google forums are increasing exponentially in these hours, highlighting the magnitude of the technical problem: hundreds of users are noticing and reporting theexcessive use of the battery even when there is no smartphone activity. Parallel to the collapse ofautonomythe affected Google Pixel 6 and 7 tend to get hot and make it difficult to bear normal phone use, especially in case you need to make a call.

What caused this set of technical glitches? Initially the cause was not clear, also in light of the fact that the Big G has not yet formally recognized them. Some more attentive users, however, have managed to track down the main cause of battery consumption: theapp Google, installed by default by the green robot operating system as the core of the smartphone search experience. In the section Drums of the settings, in fact, it is the most demanding in terms of energy from the battery.

In an attempt to solve the problems mentioned above, someone has tried a rollback to the previous version of the latest update – automatically downloaded from the Google Play Store – or even the complete reset of the smartphone Google Pixel to factory settings. The result? Nothing done: the app continues to consume too much battery and overheat the mobile device.

At this point, a corrective update from Google that shouldn’t be long in coming.
