How Unica, the new school portal, works

The Ministry of Education and Merit wanted to create a new virtual space, a portal whose target audience is students and their families. This is a platform that has become a real point of referencesince it is from here that registrations and all other procedures concerning students are managed, including school enrollment.

You can then find them all the resources necessary for orientation, to allow children and families to make informed decisions about what concerns the student’s future. Thanks to the presence of tutor teachers, it will be possible to identify the most suitable path to follow to highlight the talents of individual children.

What Unica is and how to use it

Unica is a virtual portal created by the Ministry of Education and Merit to achieve two main objectives: offer digital services for orientation e tools for managing the school curriculum boys.

All the services, tools and information found within Unica aim to stimulate the active participation of students and families to school initiatives and designed by the Ministry of Education and Merit.

The idea of ​​creating a portal like Unica was born in 2022, when the MIM established new orientation guidelines and for the enhancement of the abilities of male and female students. It was in that year that the Ministry of Education and Merit identified specific innovative measures.

Among these there is the E-Portfolio, a digital tool through which each student’s educational path is summarized and traced. The data is recorded directly by the school and can be integrated with the wealth of experiences lived by the children. Much appreciated too tutor teacherswhich work to help young people acquire awareness of the context in which they live and of their own abilities in order to allow them to make targeted choices for work and study paths.

After these initiatives, Unica officially arrives in October 2023. The platform also gives access to the E-Portfolio and contacts with tutor teachers. Over time the platform will be increasingly enriched with all the news and information on the world of school.

How Unica, the school portal, is organised

There are mainly 3 categories present on Unica: Orientation, Living the school and Tools. In Orientation you will find everything that is useful for managing your own path, in particular the E-Portfolio, which can be accessed by secondary school students, parents, school managers and coordinators, teachers authorized by school secretaries, teachers with tutor functions and administrative staff.

Tutor teachers are also part of the Orientation area. They can be organised group or individual meetings. To make an appointment, students can view a calendar and choose a date. Tutor teachers are assigned only to children attending the last three years of secondary school and to all those attending second level study courses.

In Vivere la scuola they can be found all the training experiences that can be had to develop skillsincluding Erasmus, exams and evaluations (such as the National Register of Excellence), active initiatives (for example the Cinema Plan) and what concerns inclusive schools and sport.

In Tools you will find all the information regarding educational trips, school libraries and administrative tools.

You can access Unica with the own SPIDwith the Electronic Identity Card (CIE), with the National Services Card (CNA) or with eIDAS. New users must register for the first time, indicating their tax code and other required data. Registration is only permitted to administrative staff, school staff and students over 14 years of age. The latter will only have access to the services dedicated to them.

Online registration in the first year of primary school, first and second level secondary school and other training centers must be carried out on Unica, on the dates indicated annually by the Ministry of Education and Merit.

They can access the registration area parents or those with parental responsibility on the students to be enrolled. They can access Unica through SPID, CIE, CNS and eIDAS.

Before registering you can explore all the possibilities offered by evaluating the different education and training courses available, examine statistics and identify all the schools in your area

Once you log in, you will be asked to enter all personal data and confirm them. We then move on to completing the registration which is divided into three parts: student data, family data and choice of school. Second and third choices may be indicated if the first does not have places available.

Once you have filled out the registration application, which can also be paused, you can move on to forwarding, first verifying the correctness of the data which can no longer be modified. After submitting, you receive a confirmation email.

After submitting your application, you can monitor its status to understand if the destination school has taken care of the request, if it has accepted it, if it has returned it to the family or if it has sent it to another school.
