1) What activates the limited account on Facebook

The Facebook account can be limited for various reasons, many linked to an activity too similar to that of a bot (especially if we have had the account for a short time). The actions that can activate the limitation on the account are:

  • Too many friend requests to unknown people: Adding many people without a mutual friend can lead to account limitations being activated, preventing us from adding new friends for a limited period of time (usually 48 hours).
  • Profile spam: if we spam our new profile in the comments of other posts, videos or photos we will receive a limitation that will prevent us from commenting or responding to other posts.
  • Posting content that incites hatred or violence: using terms that are offensive, hateful or harmful to people’s dignity will almost automatically lead to blocking of replies and posts, transforming our profile into read-only mode (we can only read other people’s posts and messages, without being able to respond).
  • Using a fake name or pretending to be someone: Using fake names or impersonating other people is considered a very serious violation of Facebook’s terms, which in many cases will completely block access to your content and account in a short time.
  • Violate Facebook’s business policies: If we use your business account to sponsor our content and it violates the terms, we will receive warnings and be blocked from making new posts or publishing new photos or videos.

These actions or activities will trigger a the system is warned, which will gradually limit the freedom on our Facebook account until the account is completely banned. Much also depends on the severity of the actions performed and the number of reports made by other users.

2) How long does the limited account on Facebook last?

Based on the number of warnings received, we will have a different duration of account limitations; It is therefore better to pay close attention and carefully identify the number of alerts received every time we access the account:

  • First notice: nothing happens but we will be notified that we have committed a violation and we must pay close attention in the future.
  • Two to six warnings: As the warnings grow, they will prevent us from posting in the groups for some time (a few hours).
  • seven warnings: with 7 warnings under our belt our account will be limited for 24 hours. We cannot share comments, post images, or like other content.
  • Eight warnings: We cannot create new content for 72 hours.
  • Nine warnings: We cannot create new content for 7 days.
  • Ten or more warnings: We cannot create new content for 30 days.

In many cases we can move to a higher level of limitations or receive a profile ban directly, without having to accumulate the necessary amount of warnings (everything is at Facebook’s discretion).

3) How to unlock a restricted Facebook account

Unblocking a restricted account on Facebook is all in all simple: as soon as we receive one or more warnings we limit our activity on the account, so as to let the active block expire and return to writing or commenting without problems.

The problem starts when the block lasts more than a day; in this case there is little we can do to speed up the recovery operation, if not Report the problem to Facebook support.

If we see a limited account warning appear, press on at the bottom This is a mistake and follow the instructions on the screen to try to contact support.

Alternatively we can contact support directly from the Facebook app by pressing the profile icon at the top right, expanding the menu Help and assistanceby pressing up Report a problemlet’s press on Continue to report a problemwe press on Include in the report and provide the details of the problem, reporting the incorrect activation of Facebook account limitations.

The same report can also be made by Facebook web pageclicking on the profile at the top right and pressing on Assistance and supportby pressing Report a problem and following the same procedure seen from the app for mobile devices.

An effective trick to speed up unlocking your limited account on Facebook involves providing a valid identity document, as seen in our guide on how to restore suspended Facebook profile with a document.
