Instagram, a new algorithm arrives that penalizes non-original content

Thousands and thousands of contents are published daily on social networks, some extremely original and successful, others which are actual reproductions of other people’s work. Instagram is one of the most used platforms by creators, with new images and videos being shared every day. To prevent these from being copies and for reward the most creative users, the developers have decided to introduce some changes. It’s about a new algorithm, which brings with it important consequences.

More precisely, there are four changes that the new algorithm makes to Instagram with the aim of redesign the content classification and give creators the ability to reach a broader audience: greater visibility to deserving users, replacing all duplicate content with original content, prioritizing recommendations for original content, and adding informative labels.

Let’s find out what is changing on the platformhow to seize new opportunities and avoid penalties.

Instagram, how the new algorithm that rewards the most deserving users works

Republish the work of others it is a practice that many users implement on Instagram to increase their followers. In many cases, it comes performed without mentioning the creatororiginal who produced the work and without giving it due credit. An incorrect practice which will soon no longer bring advantages and which, on the contrary, will be punished with significant penalties.

The new algorithm was developed to offer the smaller creators, often victims of this trendgreater possibilities to broaden your audience and greater visibility.

In detail, the algorithm is capable of reveal when content is reposted at least 10 times in 30 days. When this happens, any pages that repost the same image or video will no longer appear in Instagram’s Explore section for a month, the area where users can discover what might be of interest to them.

As you might imagine, it’s about a significant penalty, which significantly reduces visibility of pages that have shared someone else’s content.

How not to be penalized by the new Instagram algorithm

The new algorithm rewards the first creator who published the content first. This will remain the only one visible to other users in the Explore section and will replace all reposts.

To all non-original content, reposted on Instagram, a label will be applied that will link the post to that of the original creator. The latter could also receive a label that will indicate it as the original one, published first on the platform. The creator receives a notification every time Instagram performs an action of this type.

Not all will be penalized content that makes significant changes to original contentsuch as parodies and analyses, or if the page that published the original content has provided permission to republish it.
