On October 31, 2023, Microsoft released the final version of the Windows 11 23H2 update package. As we know, to update to Windows 11 23H2 there are different ways as well as various techniques can be used to download the Windows 11 ISO. Media Creation Tool of Windows 11 is a tool that, unlike what happens with the same program in the Windows 10 version, allows you to download the ISO image or create bootable media for installation. However, it does not allow update the system directly, as is possible in the case of Windows 10.
The Windows 11 Media Creation Tool still downloads Windows 11 22H2, at least until mid-November
Although the ISO file of Windows 11 23H2 has already been available for a few days and Windows Update begins to report the availability of the update package, after installing theenablement package KB5027397, the version of the Media Creation Tool that can be downloaded from the Windows 11 Download page still downloads the Windows 11 22H2 version.
It’s easy to realize this: after downloading the program, we suggest right-clicking on it mediacreationtool.exe then click on Property and finally on the card Details. Corresponding to the indication Versionthere is an explicit reference to the build number 22621 which corresponds to Windows 11 22H2. If the Media Creation Tool updated to Windows 11 23H2, the correct build number should be 22631.
When questioned about this specific anomaly, Microsoft spokespersons confirmed “the problem” by clarifying that the new version of the Media Creation Tool, capable of downloading Windows 11 23H2, will be published by mid-November 2023. Gabe Frost (Microsoft) he revealed which is currently an ongoing activity package optimization which will be completed within a couple of weeks at most.
Microsoft draws your attention to the need to always download the Media Creation Tool in the corresponding version system language operating system in use on the system. The use of a incorrect versionit will not allow you to proceed with the download of Windows 11 23H2.
The anomaly is however rather curious because the Windows 11 download page indicates that all the tools refer to version 23H2. Microsoft might add a side note.
