Mikhail Parakhin, CEO Advertising and Web Services at Microsofthas announced a new and interesting feature that could revolutionize the use of Microsoft Edge and, more generally, the entire browser industry.
We are talking about an online search that can be carried out on two search engines at the same time. In fact it is possible to compare the SERP of two different engines, obtaining an even broader overview of your searches.
In Edge, you can search in two engines simultaneously: if Bing is your default and you click on the Search icon, you’ll see, say, Google results (and vice versa). It will stay in sync and refresh with the new query. Have you ever tried it? Is this useful? Asking for a friend 🙂 pic.twitter.com/p016dF8Wc1

Despite this, several users have already raised doubts about this implementation. By combining the two search engines, in fact, the layout proposed by Edge seems somewhat confusing and messy.
In this sense, Parakhin himself clarified how an option to select a search engine could be introduced in the future “backed up“. All to facilitate reading and interpretation of the results by the user.
The dual search engine proposed by Edge is still in its infancy
While the introduction is interesting, it still appears to be a somewhat crude feature. In terms of display and customization, the double search engine still seems to reveal limitations which, in all likelihood, will be the subject of attention from Microsoft developers. Despite this, it should still be considered an interesting change in future perspective.
From the user’s point of view, in fact, the double search offers a potentially more complete overview on the query typed by the user. Thinking about everything from a search engine perspective, the implementation of this function in a sector dominated by Google it could also open up small openings for competing engines.
In the near future it will be interesting if and how others browser will follow Edge’s lead, implementing similar features.
