Mozilla towards scaling: focus only on Firefox and AI

Mozilla towards scaling: focus only on Firefox and AI

With the arrival of a new interim CEO, who took office earlier this month, Mozilla is going to review some company policies, with a significant reduction in investments.

Apparently, the cuts will affect a number of products in the context of privacy and security. These include the VPN, Firefox Relay and other similar solutions. The platform will also pay the price for this downsizing Hubs, which will permanently close its doors. As is clear, all this will also have consequences for employees, with layoffs for 60 workers.

While Mozilla is aiming to contain costs, there are other areas in which the company seems ready to focus its resources. We are talking about the ever-increasing integration ofArtificial intelligence sul browser Firefox.

Goodbye to downsized Hubs, VPNs and Firefox Relays: here are Mozilla’s new policies

The policies adopted by Mozilla go in stark contrast to the company’s behavior in recent years. At the cost of sacrificing part of the resources dedicated to the browser, in fact, the company had pushed towards other products which, apparently, did not bring great benefits in terms of image and, above all, revenue

The documentation that dictates the company’s new guidelines underlines how Mozilla intends to focus on “A reliable artificial intelligence in Firefox” trying to strengthen the browser’s position in the sector which, although it has suffered a loss of users over the last few years, still remains the company’s flagship.

Mozilla staff, on the other hand, have never stopped working on Firefox. As evidence of this, there is the version 123 of the software, with an interesting series of new features for developers. According to recent research, Firefox holds the 7,6% of the browser market, which in fact remains very far from Google Chrome which is used by more than 65% of users.
