New iPad Pros, Apple has chosen who will produce the displays

There’s very little left now: in the coming weeks Apple plans to present its new range of iPad Pro. Included here are an 11-inch and a 12.9-inch model.

Anyone wondering what the novelty, the real workhorse, of the new Cupertino tablets is should already know given the numerous indiscretions. In fact, there will be a transition from LCD screens to standard ones OLED. According to what we have learned from the web, both tablets should be equipped with this innovation. One of the two giants par excellence will 100% provide the equipment for the screens: Samsung Display o LG Display. During the last hours, however, further details would arrive.

The new iPad Pros have never been so close, here’s who will produce the OLED screens

According to the very famous Korean media ET News, Samsung Display will provide exclusive il driver display IC (DDI) for all upcoming new iPad Pro models, which is an unusual move, given that Apple typically works with two suppliers for each component. In fact, it is in this way that the company manages to have a constant supply and above all to be able to negotiate prices.

The Cupertino giant will also use Samsung’s DDIs for models equipped with OLED displays supplied by LG. But what is DDI? This is a specific, integrated type of circuit that controls the operation of the entire OLED panel. In short, it is what transmits the hardware action on the screen, “telling” the display itself which colors to show, what type of images and at what frequencies.

The benefit of the arrival of OLED displays on the new iPad Pros is great. Blacks are deeper and colors significantly richer than usual. An updated camera setup and the arrival of the ricarica wireless MagSafe type.
