Nitrux 3.2.1: Distro Nitrux version without Systemd released

The developer and maintainer of Nitrux, Uri Herreraannounced the release and general availability of Nitrux 3.2.1 as first snapshot ISO of the 2024. This new one Immutable GNU/Linux distributionbased on Debian, does not have Systemd and is built around the desktop environment KDE Plasma. Nitrux 3.2.1 is powered by a kernel Linux 6.6.9 LTS in stile Liquorix and comes with the latest desktop environment KDE Plasma 5.27.10 LTS. Furthermore, it is accompanied by software suites KDE Frameworks 5.114 e KDE Gear 23.08.4all built on the application framework Qt 5.15 LTS, supported in the long term. Users who want to install this distribution will find the graphical installer Squid updated. This now offers a checkbox to disable default password strength validation, as well as an updated slideshow.

Nitrux 3.2.1: the other new features of the new version

Nitrux 3.2.1 brings various changes to theNX desktop environment based on KDE Plasma, including a Cover Switch effect for window switching, a new flag for restarting the session KWin X11login improvements to save disk space, a new help section, updated themes and improved fractional scaling. Among the new components are the server WebDAV minimal phodav, the extension Plasma Gamemodethe random number generator daemon rng-tools upstreampeople SPICE for Linux for remote access to virtual machines, pwgen for automatic password generation and a PAM module to check the “strength” of the password. Nitrux 3.2.1 also introduces the module KDE Wacom tablet KCModulewhich implements a GUI per i driver Wacom Linux. Furthermore, this version adds new system characters (Switzer and CamingoCode) and a new default wallpaper.

Finally, this version also introduces the tiling window manager Polonium for the KDE Plasma desktop environment. Then there are the plugins Active Blur for KDE Plasma and the customizable full-screen launcher Plasma Drawer. For greater network security, Nitrux 3.2.1 enables the mode randomization of MAC addresses for networks in NetworkManager by default. Furthermore, the standard has been enabled by default IPv6 Privacy Extensions (RFC 4941) in NetworkManager and the Linux kernel. This distribution is already available for download from the official Nitrux website. Finally, we must remember that this first ISO Nitrux snapshot of 2024 is dedicated only to new installations. Those who already own an old distribution can update it using the dedicated Nitrux utility.
