Project Q: Sony’s portable console for PlayStation 5 users is based on Android

It is the user who provides new details @Zuby_TechThat their Twitter (or should we say “X”?) posted photos and videos of Project Q. We don’t know how, we don’t know why, but this user had the opportunity to get your hands on Sony-branded hardware and decided to share some details with the community.

From pictures it clearly shows that Project Q is running Android and that its chipset is signed Qualcomm. As for the operating system, it looks like an early build with typical elements, such as the app drawer, the three buttons to navigate the interface and even some test applications. Among these, there is the app called “QC Test”which suggests that the processor is one Snapdragon.

Project Q - Sistema operativo Android - Leak

The final version of the software will certainly be customized to align with the PlayStation 5 interface, but the (surprise?) presence of Android makes everything suggestive. Thanks to Big G’s operating system, in fact, the console could turn out to be more versatile than expected: ability to play locally, support for cloud gaming and so much more.

To date, based on what was communicated by Sony, we know that Project Q is a hardware designed exclusively for stream games installed on your PlayStation 5. It therefore does not belong to the category of Nintendo Switch, nor to that of Steam Deck and ASUS ROG Ally.
