1) Turn on Screen distance

The function Distance from the screen was introduced with iOS 17 and allows us to monitor the distance at which we hold the phone, so as to use it without tiring our eyes (also protecting against the risk of myopia for children).

To activate the Distance from screen function, open the app Settings on iPhone, we press on the menu Usage timelet’s press on Enable screen time (if we have never done it before) and select the item Distance from the screen. In the window that appears, click on Continues and click Continue again to activate the eye distance detection function.

After activation the iPhone will monitor the distance of our eyes, ensuring that the user uses the phone at a distance minimum distance of 30 centimetres.

The function will work when we unlock the phone or when we bring it too close during daily use, showing us a warning about the close range; the warning can be ignored by pressing the button Continues after a few seconds or by immediately moving the phone away.

The feature does not store any data on the phone and does not share any information with external servers or services; it is available as an additional function and does not affect user privacy; if we consider the function useless, just follow the same steps seen above to deactivate the switch next to the item Distance from the screen.
