Rabbit R1, what it is and how this new smart assistant works

Rabbit R1 it is an ambitious device created by a startup that deals with artificial intelligence called, precisely, Rabbit.

It is a autonomous AI device which, according to the CEO’s statements, Jesse Lyucan perform a huge number of functions thanks to a mix of technology e innovation ready to replace (potentially) even a smartphone although this remains to be seen. Let’s find out more about it.

How Rabbit R1 is made

Rabbit R1 looks a bit like one of those old media players portable but, obviously, it has a complex hardware system inside it ready to make the most of the potential of AI.

There is a display touchscreen 2.88 inches, dimensions not exactly large given the measurements of current smartphones, but still more than sufficient for an AI assistant.

Inside there is a MediaTek processor (unspecified) 2.3 GHz supported by 4 GB in RAM e 128 GB of memory.

There is a camera that can rotate to take photos and shoot videos in any situation e a wheel which allows you to move within the menu and to call the attention of the voice assistant.

The drums is still an unknown, but according to the manufacturing company, it is designed to last all day.

As for the connections there is the WiFithe SIM slot or probably the ability to use the e.g and the Bluetooth.

The real strong point of the device, however, is the operating system Rabbit OSand, of course, the power of artificial intelligence which, as opposed to ChatGPTit’s a large action model (LAM) which allows the user to ask anything to the device which can perform tasks without problems using the on-board programs.

Another interesting thing is a sort of “training mode” which allows you to train the device to carry out various actions so that in the future it can do it on its own. It’s a bit reminiscent of a (very) evolved version of Apple automations but which can significantly expand the potential of this product.

It is said that the device will be able to learn to do practically everything, we will have to see if this will really be the case in real life or if the AI will have limits.

What is the goal of Rabbit R1

Rabbit R1 starts with the basic idea of bringing an AI device that can do something into the hands of consumers whatever is asked of him and, if he was not capable of it, to learn together with the user the simplest and most effective way to carry out the action in question.

At the moment, however, it remains to be understood what will the real functioning be of this tool which, despite being very powerful, should not yet be able to replace a smartphone but should act more as a personal assistant even if, according to Jesse Lyu’s statements, it wants to be something else entirely.

The real question is: why should users carry with them two devices that (more or less) do the same things, given that all modern phones have a smart assistant inside them?

It’s kind of the same question that everyone has been asking since the existence of Humane AI Pina question that clearly still has no answers.

For the moment, therefore, while waiting to test its potential in the field and find out what the Rabbit R1 will be used for, in the meantime we can imagine it as a kind of smart gadget. A kind of all-in-one accessory which can perform various functions but which, on balance, still does not find a real place in the “technological sphere” of users.

The start of pre-orders and the first shipments should begin in March and the device will cost $199.
