Quick Share, the new Android and Samsung features for sharing files

Among the most interesting announcements of CES 2024that of Google which he officially presented Quick Sharea new collaborative modality developed together with Samsung to simplify how you share files between various devices.

A nice piece of news, in short, which seeks to improve the connections between devices several also going to simplify users’ lives that, finally, they should get a simpler system to synchronize the various hi-tech gadgets in their possession. Let’s find out more about it.

How Quick Share works

As is well known, branded devices Samsung have the functionality of Quick Share as early as 2020 while Google can rely on the mode Nearby Share, arrived up Android more or less the same period.

It may seem like a redundant feature, also because Nearby Share is able to connect all products together with Android operating system including Samsung which, however, among them can already take advantage of Quick Share.

The real novelty lies in the additional features that arrive with this partnership, like the quick sharingfor example, or sending files to multiple devices at the same time.

Other than that, Quick Share further speeds up the exchange of photos, videos, documents and other files so you can do this again more intuitive and in some ways more “universal”.

To try the function, as soon as it is released, simply choose the file to send, tap on the relevant icon and choose who to start sharing with among all available users nearby.

In addition to this it is also possible to set privacy options so as to be visible to nearby devices present in your contact list o only to those owned.

And this is good news, also because by “giving too many freedoms” there could be the risk of receive unwanted materials or worse they could compromise safety of your device.

When the new feature arrives

According to Google’s statements e Samsung during the event at CES 2024, the Quick Share function will be launched on all compatible devices already from next February.

From what we know it should arrive on all products that can already use Nearby Share but, with good chances, in the next few weeks it will be possible to consult the complete list with all the relevant compatibilities.

Apart from this, Google also announced the launch of a collaboration with LG to bring Quick Share also to notebooks with an operating system Windows as a pre-installed application.

The operation in this case too should be similar to the one just illustrated but the official timing for the release of the update is not yet available although it will probably be a matter of a few weeks.
