Røde NTH-100: official premium headphones for audio professionals

While carrying an almost sixty-year history, the Australian brand Røde is renowned for its audio capture accessories and, therefore, represents an absolute first time the one that saw the Sidney brand bring its first pair of headphones to the market. , represented by the NTH-100.

The Røde NTH-100 headphones (80 x 190 x 188mm, for 350 grams) are a closed design, in pure black, of the over-ear type: the pavilions have a non-circular but shaped shape, which recalls and adapts to that of the ears, in order to guarantee a better passive isolation from noise, and also a greater comfort in long wear. The manufacturer, again with the aim of improving comfort, has foreseen the use of Alcantara synthetic fabric, with a feel similar to suede material, to cover the stainless steel headband (guaranteed for 25 years), and the pavilions (whose wiring harness is guaranteed to withstand 25kg of force), which feature – in the pads – a combination of memory foam for comfort and CoolTech gel to dissipate heat.

Under each pavilion, then to the right or left depending on how comfortable you are, via connector, with a locking system to avoid accidental disconnections, it is possible to connect the cable, which has a basic length of 2.4 meters: Røde, however, ne it also sells shorter ones (eg 1.2 meters), to avoid the increase in weight on the head, or the appearance of rustling (“microphones”) when said long cables rub on clothes, and colored ones.

This betrays the modular nature of the NTH-100 headphones, since the user can replace, in addition to the earpads themselves and, as seen the cable, also the headband (adjustable, with FitLok locking, so that – after placing the headphones at the right height – it is sufficient to intervene on the two locking mechanisms so called, to avoid having to readjust them perhaps when carrying them in a bag or handling them). Obviously, the replacement cables and other alternative elements, cadenced in 4 colors, must be bought separately.

In terms of audio, the pavilions house dynamic drivers sized at 40 mm, whose flatter frequency response (5Hz-35Khz) betrays the fact that the NTH-100 are also suitable for live streaming, mixing, video editing. , audio monitoring: these elements are associated with triple-layer Mylar diaphragms, moving coils with a four-layer aluminum core at high voltage and, to minimize distortions, neodymium magnets.
