Samsung brings Auracast Bluetooth broadcast to older devices

Samsung is bringing support for the technology Bluetooth Auracast on an even larger number of Galaxy smartphones and tablets. This is a function that allows you to create a wireless audio transmission via Bluetooth and simultaneously share sound content with nearby compatible devices.

We have already seen how Bluetooth LE Audio aka Auracast works: the system offers a wide range of potential and opens up multiple use cases.

Think of augmented or assisted listening in a theater or lecture hall, at sharing a playlist from your smartphone while running with friends, to language support without translation devices by taking advantage of simultaneous streaming on multiple different channels.

Auracast is available on select models of smart TV Samsung come on Galaxy Buds2 Pro since last year. You can, for example, set up multiple streams on supported TVs to watch movies or listen to the same music on multiple sets of Buds. Samsung has also added Auracast support to the Galaxy S24 series with update One UI 6.1.

The South Korean company has expanded Auracast support to the Galaxy S23, Z Fold5, Z Flip5 and Tab S9 series with One UI 6.1 or later.

How to enable Bluetooth Auracast support on One UI 6.1 devices

On supported devices running One UI 6.1, you can start an audio broadcast by going to Settings, Bluetoothtap the three-dot menu then Cast audio using Auracast.

The following Galaxy devices, running One UI 5.1.1, support the “Listen to Auracast broadcast“, that they act like receiver: serie Galaxy S24, serie Galaxy S23, Galaxy Z Fold5, Z Fold4, Z Flip5, Z Flip4, Galaxy A54 5G, Galaxy M54 5G, serie Galaxy Tab S9, serie Tab S9 FE, Tab Active 5 5G.

Audio 360 e Auto Switch

Samsung has also expanded its functionality Audio 360 to support other smart TV models, including Neo QLED 8K (QN900D, QN800D), Neo QLED 4K (QN95D, QN90D, QN87D, QN85D).

Finally, the function Auto Switch automatically switches the connection to your Galaxy phone and restores it when the call ends. Suppose you’re watching your Samsung TV with your Galaxy Buds and you receive a call. Auto Switch manages this situation independently: thanks to the latest update, Samsung is extending the functionality to PCs, including the Galaxy Book4 series.
