From the Japanese brand, one of the most interesting smart TV series shown by the big S at the last session of the Consumer Electronic Show in Las Vegas arrives in Europe.

After bringing it on display at the last edition of the CES in Las Vega, the Japanese brand Sony has confirmed the arrival in Europe, starting from the Teutonic market, of the new series of smart TVs X80K which will embrace the already known X72K / X73K series in the role entry level for users who want to approach the resolution of Ultra HD.

Aesthetically, the Sony X80K series adopts a flat surface with thin frames: expanding in diagonals from 43 (899 euros), 50 (999 euros), 55 (1,099 euros), 65 (1,399 euros) and 75 inches (1,999 euros), from 55 ”upwards, as a support solution, benefits from the feet placed either towards the extreme sides, for example, to accommodate some soundbar in the middle, or in the center. In terms of ports, duly hidden, there are also 4 HDMIs set up for some functions of the 2.1 standard (ALLM and eARC). Technically, the TVs of the Sony X80K series adopt, according to the diagonals, IPS or VA panels, with Direct LED backlighting characterized by a refresh rate equal to 50/60 Hz.

Basically, they support wide dynamic range in HDR10, Dolby Vision and HLG formats, improving image quality according to various technical tricks. Gamers, in particular, will appreciate, directly borrowed from the “Perfect for Playstation 5” TVs, the support for the Auto Genre Picture Mode and Auto HDR Tone Mapping functions: there is also the automatic Ambient Optimization calibration based on the brightness of the room. ‘installation, in the name of automatic optimizations that will also involve the audio, entrusted to two full-range X-Balanced 10W speakers, designed to reproduce the tracks in DTS and Dolby Atmos formats.

Returning to imaging, without prejudice to the possibility of mounting the optional BRAVIA CAM for Air Gestures or video calls with Google Duo to the TVs of this series, the “4K HDR Processor X1” visual processor is in service: the latter takes care of upscaling, of the object-based HDR remastering process (instead of adjusting the contrast along a curve from black to white, once the color of each object is analyzed, the contrast is adjusted for each of them with the result of making the images more realistic and with a greater depth), to increase the contrast ratio (Dynamic Contrast Enhancer), to thin the videos (Motionflow XR), and to make the color ranges wider (TRILUMINOS PRO, with benefits in rendering the blue, green, red and of the skin).

Already seen on the Sony XH90, Mediatek’s MT5895 processor operates as a processing chip, assisted by 4 GB of RAM and 16 GB of storage, sufficient to run Google TV, with consequent endorsement towards the Play Store, the integration of Chromecast, the Assistant support thanks to the external speakers also useful to guarantee the action of the rival Alexa. Lastly, the presence of the new simplified remote control is also included, seen paired with other series of Sony smart TVs dated 2022.
