During a virtual event, the Chinese brand Honor, a former Huawei spin-off, introduced two new entries in the Play smartphone series dedicated to young people, with the Honor Play 6T and 6T Pro intended for those who want current designs and the better than the performance for the price range provided by the category.

The Honor Play 6T (167.59 x 77.19 x 8.62 mm, for 198 grams in the colors Magic Night Black, Titanium Sky Silver and Charm Sea Blue), resembling some of the school rivals BBK Electronics (Realme and Vivo), has a panoramic (20 : 9) very fluid 6.7-inch LCD display (90 Hz), with a water drop notch housing the 5 megapixel self-camera, whose resolution is HD + (1600 × 720 pixels). On the side is the fingerprint scanner: the perimeter also embraces a 3.5 mm mini-jack for wired headphones or earphones.

An obvious totem on the back gives all the importance of the case to the main sensor, 13 megapixel (f / 1.8), with the lower section flanking two similar auxiliary 2 megapixel sensors, according to the classic scheme that uses one for macro and one to capture the depth needed for Portrait mode and the Bokeh effect.

To animate this model is the octacore processor (2.2 GHz) MediaTek Dimensity 700, made with 7 nanometer lithography and flanked by a Mali-G57 MC2 GPU: the combinations of RAM and storage (expandable via microSD of max 512 GB) are two , respectively from 8 + 128 GB, priced at 1,199 yuan (173 euros), and from 8 + 256 GB, listed at 1,399 yuan (202 euros).

The battery, from 5,000 mAh, enjoys fast charge from 22.5W thanks to the microUSB Type-C with fast charge 22.5W: the connectivity section also includes Dual SIM with 4G and 5G (standalone and not), Wi-Fi ac dual band, Bluetooth 5.1, and GPS (A-GPS, Beidou, Glonass, Galileo). For the operating system, the choice fell on Android 11 under the Magic UI 5.0 interface.

Always with the same software as its younger brother, the Honor Play 6T Pro (Magic Night Black, Rose Gold, Titanium Silver), equipped with an aluminum alloy frame, looks more like an iPhone 12/13 due to the edges dishes. The front opts for a hole in the top center, to accommodate the selfiecamera raised to 8 megapixels: the display, a 6.7-inch LCD with consequent lateral fingerprint housing, gains a FullHD + resolution (2388 × 1080 pixels) but retains 90 Hz refresh rate.

At the rear, the camera is dual, inserted in a square, with a symmetrical double hole pattern in which the main sensor is 48 megapixel, and is accompanied by a 2 megapixel accessory sensor to acquire the depth of field. Despite the smaller thickness (7.45 mm), there is still space for the 3.5 mm mini-jack, with the chassis that owes its weight (175 grams) also to the 4,000 mAh battery, which can be charged more quickly (by 50% in just 20 min), at 40W.

On the hardware side, the Honor Play 6T Pro is driven by the octacore processor (2.4 GHz) Dimensity 810 which, flanked by a Mali-G57 MC2 GPU, as in the standard model brings 5G connectivity: on the mnemonic level, the assets remain confirmed of RAM and storage from 8 + 128 (1,399 yuan or 202 euros) and 8 + 256 GB (1,599 yuan or 231 euros).
