Threads, the first big update arrives: here's the news

The launch of Threads posted record numbers, with approx 100 million signups in very few days. Beyond the novelty of the moment, however, the new social network of Meta he seems to have soon lost his verve: the numbers recorded, in fact, have shown a sudden drop in attention towards him.

In order to confirm the excellent premises, apparently, the development team he threw himself headlong into the work. The result of this effort is the first major update of the platform, made available last Tuesday and presented by Cameron Rothdeveloper working on the project.

The same has made public the new features (currently only available on iOS), complete with translations of the posts into foreign languages and the introduction of the Follows tab. Despite the excellent premises, the latter still appears a bit limited compared to what Twitter offers.

Threads: Here comes the Follows tab and language translations

Threads, in fact, with the Follows tab allows you to be able to see who follows their account. Elon Musk’s social network, for its part, allows you to order them in chronological order. Among the other functions introduced, the possibility of subscribing to specific users to receive one deserves a mention notification for each of their publications.

According to Cameron Roth, the update should allow the app to run more smoothly than before, improving the user experience.

For the territories where Threads is available (Europe and Europe in general are not yet included) the update should be gradually active during today.

Beyond the commitment of the developers, this platform is still somewhat limited at the moment. Threads is extremely young and, beyond the easy enthusiasm, it appears to be an immature platform to say the least. The absence of a history feedOf hashtagOf direct messages and other functions, is currently a clear gap compared to Twitter.

On a technical level, in fact, the competitor is still much superior: only in the future will it be possible to evaluate which of the two social networks will actually impose itself on the other.
