WhatsApp Web is among the most popular WhatsApp services, as it allows you to chat from the desktop, while performing other operations or completing your work tasks. However, this feature hides risks, as it exposes conversations and message exchanges to eyes that could be prying, especially if you shares your computer with other people or family members.
To prevent this from happening, you can apply a password with the purpose of locking the screen and prevent anyone who does not have the code personally indicated to the platform from viewing conversations on WhatsApp Web. Let’s find out how to set the password safety.
How to apply a password to WhatsApp Web
First, you need to connect to the official WhatsApp Web site and connect your device using the QR code which is shown on the screen.
Once connected, click on the three vertical dots at the top of the screen and select the item Privacy. Here you can make all the decisions necessary to protect your presence on the platform, such as those regarding blocked contacts and ephemeral messages.
In the menu on the left of the screen, select the item Screen lock and activate it by ticking the box next to the item Screen lock.
Indicate a password that has at least 6 characters and a maximum of 128 characters. May contain only letters, numbers and common punctuation. Type the password a second time to confirm and press on Ok.
At this point, you can choose how much time of inactivity the screen lock is activated by selecting one of the options presented in the menu on the left: After 1 minute, After 15 minutes and After 1 Hour.
When the screen lock is active, to view chats you must enter the password indicated in the settings. Notifications are not displayed when the block is on.
How to deactivate the WhatsApp Web screen lock
The WhatsApp Web screen lock can be deactivated at any timeby connecting to your WhatsApp Web account.
Click on the three dots on the left of the screen and choose Settings. Click on the item Privacy and scroll to Screen lock. Remove the check next to the item Screen lock and indicate your password to confirm that you have authorization to perform the operation.
After entering the correct password, click Ok. At this point the screen lock has been disabled: all those who use the computer will be able to view the chats whenever they want, without encountering any kind of obstacle.
