Blu Products, an American brand of low-cost and rugged smartphones at the center of a well-known controversy in 2017, when it was rumored that user data was being sent to servers in China, has long since left the controversy behind and, in the past few hours , has relaunched its presence with two new entry class smartphones.

Blu S91, this is the name of the first device, measures 164.7 x 76.0 x 8.9 mm for 202 grams, and is expected, with a design that recalls laterally (flat frames) and rearward (the photographic section) the iPhone 12, in Gold colors, green and black. As per “practice”. at the front there is a marked chin at the bottom and a waterdrop notch at the top: in the middle, there is a 6.5-inch LCD display with an aspect ratio of 20: 9 and an HD + resolution (1600 × 720 pixels).

The selfiecamera is 13 megapixel (with face unlock), as is the main 13 megapixel sensor of the triple rear camera, followed by a sensor for macro and one for depth (f / 2.4) from 2 megapixels: always on the back there is a circular hollow, in the center of the back, for scanning the fingerprints. For headphones you need to rely on the microUSB Type-C, which can also be used to transfer data or charge the battery, with a good 5,000 mAh.

Moving on to the “brain”, the Blu S91, priced at $ 149.99 (about 142 euros), is equipped with a Mediatek Helio G25 octacore processor (2.5 GHz) with PowerVR GE8320 graphics card: the 4 GB RAM is paired with a 128GB, which can be expanded by a further 256GB maximum via microSD. GPS, dual SIM, Wi-Fi n, and Bluetooth 5.0 complete the general picture of the device.

The second smartphone provided by Blu for the domestic market, with an unknown price, is the even more basic Blu G40, provided with a chassis (163.4 x 78.8 x 10.75 mm for 205 grams) in 6 different colors, or in white , blue, cyan, black, green, teal. The front part seems to have been pulled out of the early days of the sector, with large bezels at the top and bottom: the lower one does not have the fingerprint scanner, which is actually absent, while the upper one houses the 8 megapixel selfiecamera, with release via face recognition.

Placed on the short high frame the hole for the 3.5 mm jack (another outdated but not uncomfortable choice: indeed), the Blu G40 resumes imaging on the back, where a square hosts, together with the LED Flash, a dual camera, with an accessory depth sensor (perhaps a symbolic VGA), and a main 13 megapixel sensor.

The Blu G40 is powered by a quadcore processor (2.0 GHz) of the former Spreadtrum, or the Unisoc Tiger T310 with PowerVR GE8300 GPU: the RAM drops to 3 GB, however enough to avoid the Go version even in the second device of this pair Edition of Android 11, while the 32 GB storage can be expanded, but only by another 128 GB via microSD. Among the connectivity, Bluetooth drops to 4.2, while Wi-Fi is always level n, and is company with GPS, 4G LTE VoLTE, and microUSB, for battery charging, from 3,000 mAh.
