Instagram: test support for charity cause, rumors on sharing via QR and exclusive tab

Between one functional release and another, sometimes original, sometimes inspired by other platforms, Instagram is always working to improve the user experience of its users, as also emerged a few games ago when, starting from the USA, it was offered to all users (and not just creators or companies) to be able to tag products in their posts.

Waiting for a potentially more revolutionary novelty such as the NFTs, long overdue and whose arrival was also confirmed by the CEO of the parent company Meta, Mark Zuckerberg, the team of CEO Adam Mosseri did not miss the commitment on other functions as well. which, still in development, were promptly discovered by the reverse engineering activity of Alessandro Paluzzi. According to the young leaker, a new tab, “Exclusives tab”, could soon appear in user profiles.

In practice, the latter would group the exclusive contents to which users, as payers, would be entitled if they are enrolled in a particular Subscription program launched for example by a specific creators in which they are interested. In addition to this tab, with a grid therefore populated with contents not accessible to common users, Menlo Park would also be working on expanding the possibilities for sharing posts.

To date, the sharing of posts, already possible, can be carried out to other platforms of the caliber of Twitter, Facebook, Messenger, using emails, generating a url – address – to be shared, or sharing a given content via internal messaging – DM – of the platform (which, as known, has reabsorbed the spin-off Threads).

To these options, Instagram is also committed to preparing the response to the Stories via Disappearing Reactions (so called because they disappear once they are seen by the recipient), another one could be added, thanks to which it would become possible to share a post by generating a code QR. In addition to these and many rumors, there was no lack of some concrete releases, albeit in the form of a somewhat limited test, as communicated directly by the platform.

In the past few hours, Instagram, having received several requests from users regarding more direct methods to support charities, heard about it, to make sure they have taken the right approach, various organizations, has started a test, on a limited number of hashtags (related to “popular and long-standing movements on Instagram and in the world, such as #BlackLivesMatter, #womensrights and #climatecrisis”), on the basis of which, looking for some related to some causes to support, a pop- up to users who ask them if they want to create a fundraiser for the purpose (100% of the sums raised will be donated to the reference organization) or if you want to at least share the page of that particular hashtag with your connections to increase awareness of social causes in the app.
