On Netflix the films contained in the new “Short-Ass Movies” section will last a maximum of an hour and a half, as usual divided into various thematic categories.
After the many news in gaming quota, the Californian platform queen of streaming, Netflix, has granted itself a nice break from its fight against the improper sharing of passwords, showing off a new section of contents, born practically for fun, but with all usefulness. ‘nothing but doubtful.
Recently, on the famous Saturday Night Live program, in which John Belushi also starred at the time (e.g. to interpret Beethoven and Ray Charles), a sketch was aired, interpreted by comedians and rappers (Gunna, Pete Davidson, Chris Redd, Simon Rex), entitled “Short-Ass Movies”, in which he moved, rapping, a critique of some streaming films on Netflix which – despite being masterpieces – lasted too long, putting a strain on users’ ability to concentrate in the follow the plots, and also leading to much more unpleasant consequences in terms of “intimate hygiene”.
The examples made by each of the artists involved enunciated for example the excessive duration of “Once upon a time in America” (3.47 hours), “Amadeus” (2 hours and 40), up to the recent blockbuster ” The Batman ”(2 hours and 56 minutes). The request, made in an amusing way, was that they propose content with an adequate duration.
Netflix has taken this request more or less seriously, so much so that it has actually implemented the section, which can be reached on the web at a specific address (netflix.com/it/browse/genre/81603903), but also in the app via a search by keywords (“short-ass”), actually calling it “Short-Ass Movies”: this section, specifically, contains films with a maximum duration of 90 minutes, an hour and a half, sometimes less than this duration, sometimes slightly higher than the same if it is a question of including the credits.
The films shown in the Netflix “Short-Ass Movies” section are, in any case, divided into the usual categories of the platform, with carousels for the scariest films, comedies, action films, the most popular on the big N, crime films, romantic contents, suspense ones, etc.
