Snap Inc, Snapchat’s parental company, has brought several important innovations to the attention of the public, including the implementation of a new type of Stories, of an informative nature, in addition to the (limited) distribution of its new smart glasses.

For a long time, Snapchat has been dedicated to providing “credible news and information from clear and reliable sources”, just think of the launch of NowThis in the now distant 2018. an updated news channel located within the Discover section. Continuing efforts in this direction, so that users learn the facts of the world as they happen, that more local content is provided to the various communities around the world, taking into account that publishers will be able to reach 319 million daily active users in Quickly and at a lower cost, Snapchat has announced the Dynamic Stories feature.

The latter, linked to the RSS feed of partner publishers (over 40 worldwide, including Le Figaro, Marie Claire FR, Vogue France, Paris Match, The Mirror, The Indipendent, CNN, Bloomberg, Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post , ESPN, Condè, TMZ, Vice, Tom’s Guide, etc), will ensure that, every time an editor uploads an update or a new news, it will automatically generate an informative story (for now the process will not support videos) on Snapchat.

The Dynamic Story, once published, will be visible in the constant update of the Discover section, in the subscription feed, with the articles that will be highlighted in the “Happening Now” section. In revealing that new publishing partners will be added in the future regarding Dynamic Stories, Snap Inc has announced that it has started the sale of vertical video ads intended to be published in Dynamic Stories, with the purpose of sharing the revenue in this regard with publishers.

Finally, Snap Inc has announced that it has launched the fourth generation of its smart glasses, the Spectacles, distributed to some popular global creators. The new square-shaped glasses have two RGB video cameras on the sides and, on the front, a “double 3D waveguide display” which is responsible for ensuring a field of view of 26.3 °.

Comfortable to wear, given the weight of only 134 grams, but not too autonomous, with the battery that ensures 30 minutes of operation, the glasses in question, also prepared for voice commands, have a button on the left shaft to acquire the images and generate Snap, a button on the right to scan people and objects and, again on the right, a touch area for the settings menu. A white light, positioned halfway between the two lenses, will be used to communicate to third parties when the device is busy scanning something or acquiring images: by opting for the Lens Studio app, however, the user can “create and share Lenses on the Snap’s AR platform designed to track hands, markers and surfaces, realistically bringing creations for augmented reality to life “.

Under the nose pads there are sensors that allow the device, animated by the Qualcomm Snapdragon XR1 processor, to understand when it is worn: there are also two stereo speakers and four microphones for full multimedia involvement. Unfortunately, Snapchat’s 4th Generation Spectacles are only compatible with iPhones using the Lidar 3D scanner.
