In recent days, there has been a lot of talk about the launch of the Telegram Premium subscription, which should cost 4.99 dollars / euro per month, and confer a whole series of additional functions, in addition to circumventing some limits that would remain for free, non-paying users. . In the past few hours, the motivated official confirmation has arrived from the founder of Telegram, Pavel Durov.
The latter, his official channel, explained that many, over the 13 years of the platform’s life, have asked him to overcome certain limits, for example on sectors such as file uploads, chats, and media. This led to a series of evaluations that resulted in the finding that doing these things for everyone would be too severe a test for the platform’s servers, whose running costs would become unsustainable.
Therefore, it was decided not to “invite everyone to this party”, that is to create a Premium subscription, also motivated by the fact that, although the experiment of advertising in the Channels is going well, it is preferred that, compared to advertisers, they are users have the priority of Telegram, with the consequence that the latter should finance its operation.
With regard to what the Telegram Premium subscription will contain, Durov generically referred to “additional functions and greater speed and resources”: in addition, he added that, by subscribing, paying Telegram users will be able to experience some new features first. released later to all. The fact remains, Durov points out, that there will still be many news also for free users: the latter, for example, even if they do not pay, will be able to view the stickers, the increased files, and the media shared by Premium users.
To date, a precise date is not known for the release of the subscription known as Telegram Premium, whose debut, however, will officially take place within the current month, and therefore in June.
