Windows 11: news for supported AMD and Intel CPUs, what changes?

Microsoft is putting even tighter limits on users who want to switch to Windows 11, potentially forcing some of the public to install Windows 11 on incompatible PCs by relying on some bizarre ploys and third-party services. In fact, towards the end of July 2023, the Redmond company has changed the lists of supported processors from Windows 11 21H2 and 22H2, adding some AMD Ryzen processors – including a yet-unannounced model from team red – and removing several Intel chips.

There is a change for Windows 11 requirements

As reported by Neowin, Satya Nadella and associates have opted for the early introduction of processor support AMD Ryzen 5 PRO 4655G, AMD Ryzen 5 PRO 4655GE ed AMD Ryzen 3 5380U, with the latter model still not formally presented by Lisa Su’s company. Most likely it is a solution based on Zen 2 architecture and with integrated Vega graphics chip, part of the “Lucienne” line.

At the same time, the outlet noticed the removal of all following Intel Xeon processorsi.e. from the Coffee Lake server range:

  • Intel Xeon E-2104G
  • Intel Xeon E-2124
  • Intel Xeon E-2124G
  • Intel Xeon E-2126G
  • Intel Xeon E-2134
  • Intel Xeon E-2136
  • Intel Xeon E-2144G
  • Intel Xeon E-2146G
  • Intel Xeon E-2174G
  • Intel Xeon E-2176G
  • Intel Xeon E-2176M
  • Intel Xeon E-2186G
  • Intel Xeon E-2186M
  • Intel Xeon E-2224
  • Intel Xeon E-2224G
  • Intel Xeon E-2226G
  • Intel Xeon E-2226GE
  • Intel Xeon E-2234
  • Intel Xeon E-2236
  • Intel Xeon E-2244G
  • Intel Xeon E-2246G
  • Intel Xeon E-2254ME
  • Intel Xeon E-2254ML
  • Intel Xeon E-2274G
  • Intel Xeon E-2276G
  • Intel Xeon E-2276M
  • Intel Xeon E-2276ME
  • Intel Xeon E-2276ML
  • Intel Xeon E-2278G
  • Intel Xeon E-2278GE
  • Intel Xeon E-2278GEL
  • Intel Xeon E-2286G
  • Intel Xeon E-2286M
  • Intel Xeon E-2288G
  • Intel Xeon E-2314
  • Intel Xeon E-2324G
  • Intel Xeon E-2334
  • Intel Xeon E-2336
  • Intel Xeon E-2356G
  • Intel Xeon E-2374G
  • Intel Xeon E-2378
  • Intel Xeon E-2378G
  • Intel Xeon E-2386G
  • Intel Xeon E-2388G

The reason for this sudden removal of the chips from the list of supported models by Windows 11 is not clear: it is plausible that Microsoft has played in advance and confirmed that the future iterations of Eleven will not perform well on such systems.
